The first team progressed to the 2nd round of the league cup with a comprehensive win over Sheffield FC Women.

The lead only lasted a minute as Sheffield were awarded a fairly harsh penalty at the other end of the pitch when Georgia Marshall was adjudged to have fouled the Sheffield attacker.  The penalty was stroked home, 1-1.

Town regained the lead in the 25th minute. Sarah Danby was fouled just outside the Sheffield box and took the free kick herself, straight into the top corner of the net, 2-1.

It was 3-1 in the 38th minute when Embley broke down the left, cut inside and then lobbed the keeper.

Again Sheffield came back and made it 3-2 just before half time however, Town went in 4-2 up at the break when Embley sent a nice cross in to Lucy Sowerby who finished from close range.

Half time 4-2

Town dominated the second half and went 5-2 in the 55th minute when Mallin broke down the left before squaring the ball for Embley to net her second of the game.

Sowerby netted her second goal seven minutes later when she met Mallin's cross with a strong header.

As Town rang the changes, second half substitute Ellie White completed the scoring with 5 minutes remaining slotting the ball home from 6 yards out.
