Town started brightly and 2 minutes in Sarah Danby headed just wide of the target.
Barnsley came back into the game and forced Laura Carter into a couple of good saves.
Town ladies took the lead in the 15th minute through Katie Nutter who managed to dispossess the Barnsley keeper, 1-0.
A few minutes later and Laura Carters finger tips deflected a Barnsley free kick wide.
Sarah Danby made it 2-0 in the 25th minute after latching onto a poor Barnsley clearance.
Lucy Sowerby then went close, heading over the Barnsley cross bar and then Nutter hit the bar a minute later.
The match was then held up due to an injury to a Barnsley player who was eventually carried off. That resulted in 9 added minutes at the end of the first half but, Town couldn’t add to their tally.
Half time 0-2
Lucy Sowerby hit the Barnsley crossbar in the 48th minute and just a few seconds later Kate Mallin had a goal ruled out for offside
The Barnsley keeper pulled off a good double save in the 69th minute as former Barnsley player Brittany Sanderson went close for Town.
Town managed the remainder of the game well and in the 83rd minute Lucy Sowerby nodded home a Kate Mallin cross 3-0.
Ella Harris shot just over in stoppage time and then the final whistle blew and Towns celebrations started.
