HTLFC Development booked a place in the semi-final of the County Cup in style with a 6-1 away win at Rotherham United.

 

Town dominated from start to finish and could have been one up in the 4th minute when Katie Halligan was caught late in the box only to see her spot kick brilliantly saved by the United keeper.

 

It didn't take too long for Town to take the lead as Ella McCamon and Tara Duce went close before the 2 linked up superbly through the middle for Duce to fire home a fierce left foot strike into the bottom corner.

 

Amy Broomhead finished off a fine move for Town as the ball went from goalkeeper Emily Brookes through the defence and midfield for the nippy striker to cheekily lob the keeper from 10 yards.

 

McCamon made it 3 before half time with another typical long range drive into the top corner.

Town came out just as dominant in the 2nd half with Laura Walker and Sharone Buckle turning away everything fired at them and Isobel Boothroyd and Jodie Lodge creating chaos with their pacey overlaps and fine crosses.

 

Brookes was called into action in the 55th minute for the first time in the game and saved well twice from close range consecutive efforts.

 

Rose Priestley had another solid game and was rewarded with her 2nd goal of the season following a short corner between Halligan and Broomhead. The latter combined to cross for Priestley whose volley crashed in off the bar.

 

Halligan was denied by the post and then by her own player in a bizzare moment which saw her goalbound strike blocked on the line by Broomhead!!

 

Duce and McCamon both scored their second goals of the game with 2 devastating long range efforts before Rotherham pulled one back at the end.

 

A fantastic performance by the team where they await the outcome of the semi final draw.
