The Development squad were harshly knocked out of the County Cup at the Stafflex Arena in a game where arguably the better side lost.

 

Town had done amazingly to get this far and took the game to Barnsley from the off.

 

McCamon and Boothroyd must have both thought they'd given town the lead but a good save from the keeper and a wicked deflection stopped it from happening.

 

Town threatened further with good Duce and Hartley deliveries but were just inches off finding their targets.

 

Barnsley had 1 attempt in the first half following a free kick but rarely threatened Brookes between the Town sticks.

Barnsley came out all guns blazing in the second half and took the lead 15 minutes in when a 40 yard switch took out the Town defence for the winger to cross to the forward for an easy close range finish.

 

Town threw everything at the oppenents. McCamon again went close following some great driving play, Allen failed to connect fully with a Broomhead cross and centre half Walker seeing a fine header saved by the keeper.

 

It just wasn't to be for Town as Barnsley stayed strong at the back and the game came to a close.

 

It was a fantastic effort from the girls who have all done the club proud this season.
