Huddersfield Town Development 0-2 Blackburn Rovers Development
The Development team were beaten 2-0 at home to champions Blackburn leaving them a steep hill to climb for the rest of the season.
Town started brightly during an opening 20 minute spell which turned out to be their best period of the game. Slick passing and movement down the left saw Ella McCamons low drive saved well by the Blackburn keeper. Town then came close following 2 Tara Duce corners but couldnt get the ball over the line.
The turning point came on 21 minutes when Blackburn were awarded a free kick at the edge of the Town box. The well struck effort evaded the wall and Isobel Pare could only get her finger tips to it as Rovers went 1-0 up.
Rovers pegged Town back for the rest of the half as a scrappy 25 minutes followed.
HT 0-1
Town changed formation and for 10 minutes started to play the ball around. Jodie Lodge unleashed Duce at the angle but she was unable to replicate a shot of last weeks quality.
Rovers came back into the game and last ditch tackles and some fine Pare saves kept them at bay.
However on the 60th minute Town were caught in possession as the Blackburn striker intercepted and raced clear to slot low past a hapless Pare in the Town goal.
Town never really got a chance to launch a comeback as the game faded out.
