MATCH REPORTS SEASON 2019/20

FA Women's National League - Reserve League Cup
3rd November 2019
Huddersfield Town Development 2 - 0 Leicester City Reserves

The development team continued their unbeaten start to the season and overcame a tough Leicester City side by 2 goals to nil at the Stafftex Arena.

Town had the better of the opening minutes and after a couple of missed chances, went ahead in the 13th minute with a nice finish from Emily Brett.  For the remainder of the half both teams battled well but neither were able to find the net.

The second half was much of the same with Leicester rarely troubling Laura Carter in Town's goal and most of their efforts coming from distance.

At the other end Town continued to create and but for a number of fine saves from the City goalkeeper, Town could have run away with the game.

It took an unfortunate own goal to double Town's lead with 15 minutes remaining. Captain Tara Duce drove in a low free kick from just outside the City penalty area and the ball deflected off the shin of a Leicester defender and flew into the net, 2-0.

With this win, Town top their group after 5 matches played and will progress to the knock out stages of the competition to be played later in the season.
