MATCH REPORTS SEASON 2018/19

FA Women's National League - Reserve League Cup (Quarter Finals)
12th January 2020
Durham Women Reserves 3 - 7 Huddersfield Town Development
HTWFC - Devs

After last weeks penalty shoot out success the terriers were on the road again in a quarter final clash with Durham.

The terriers started in a resurgent mood with Sian Gibril-Keating dragging her shot narrowly wide after some good play from the Terriers full back Eleanor Ciesielski.

Towns early dominance paid off in the 10th minute as Emma Samways latched onto a loose goal kick from the Durham stopper Anna King, Emma elegantly lobbed the ball over the stranded keeper from 30 yards out to put town in front.

Just like that town made it two nil just one minute later as the relentless full back Eleanor Ciesielski made a surging run forward beating two Durham defenders before squaring the ball to Macy Ellis, fresh from her England Colleges call up Macy drilled the ball into the top corner making it 2-0 inside 11 minutes.

Towns relentless pressing and dominance continued and on the 14th minute it was 3-0. Emma Samways delivered a wonderful free kick and Sian Gibril-Keating there was to expertly volley the terriers into a 3 goal lead.

Ellis then added a fourth goal of the afternoon before the break rounding off an excellent first half performance from town.

Although the terriers let a spirited Durham side back into the game. Unbelievably Durham managed to  put the tie back in the balance by scoring 3 goals and making the score line 4-3 putting pressure on the terriers.

After ringing the changes the terriers then responded in a positive manner as on

the 61st minute the tireless Macy Ellis competed her hat trick after some good

play from terriers winger Emma Samways.

Town buoyed by this added 2 more goals in the last few minutes as Substitute

Cassidy Clift scored a rocket from 25 yards before fellow substitute Emily Brett

managed to delicately poke the ball past the Durham keeper to make the game

7-3 to town.

Full-time: 3-7

Town reach the Semi-Final of this competition for the first time in their history.

Next Sunday the Development team are away to Bradford City Reserves, 2pm ko
