                                       Derby County 0 - 1 Huddersfield Town
                                                                                                                                                         Emily Heckler

The first team travelled to Derby County and came away with their third win from four league games played so far this season and, sit at the top of the FAWPL Northern Division, just ahead of Blackburn Rovers on goal difference.

This wasn't Town's best performance but a gritty 1-0 away win bodes well for the remainder of the season.

Derby had the first chance of the game when they shot wide of Town's goal in the 7th minute.

On 17 minutes, Annabelle Cass struck a powerful shot from wide of the Derby goal but their keeper held on.

As the half progressed Town grew into the game however, Charlie Kenyon in Town's goal still had to be alert to the Derby counter attacks and pulled off a superb save with 25 minutes gone.

Kate Mallin had a strong effort well saved in the 32nd minute before Sarah Danby missed Town's best chance just before half time when shooting wide of the target.

Half time 0-0

Emily Heckler was introduced in the 46th minute.

Player of the match Hannah Campbell almost put Town ahead 2 minutes into the half when her strike was deflected over the Derby crossbar by a defender.  Just a minute later and Heckler had her first sight of goal but her shot was well blocked.

In the 55th minute Town took the lead when a clever through ball from Danielle Whitham found Heckler in space, and she made no mistake, 0-1.

Further chances fell to Heckler but she was unable to convert.

Derby threw everything at Town in the last 5 minutes of the game but Town held firm and once again had Kenyon and some excellent strong tackles and interceptions to thank for the clean sheet and another 3 points in this excellent start to the season.
