                                              Huddersfield Town 2-0 Wolverhampton Wanderers

After only one match in 6 weeks, Town went into this game with a lack of game time and although they dominated possession for long periods, the usual attacking cutting edge just wasn't present. However, the win takes Town up to second place in the table with only 3 league games remaining.

Town started brightly and Millie Turner had the first chance in the 3rd minute but, her shot went over the Wolves crossbar.

Lucy Sowerby then had a strong shot just wide of the target.

The deadlock was broken in the 27th minute when right wing back Danielle Whitham let fly with her trademark long range effort which, gave the Wolves keeper no chance, 1-0.

Town continued to create the better openings and chances fell to Sarah Danby (saved), Sowerby (high and wide).

Wolves best opportunity came in the 44th minute but they could only hit the side netting.

Half time 1-0

Town huffed and puffed in the second half but Brittany Sanderson headed just wide in the 57th minute.

Turner played a superb ball over the top to Kate Mallin who, after a sublime touch to control the ball, saw her shot parried wide by the excellent Wolves keeper.

With 15 minutes remaining Wolves shot just wide of the target after an initial save from Laura Carter in Town's goal.

A minute later and Ella Harris struck a fierce shot which rebounded back off the Wolves crossbar.

As Town held out for the win, Harris managed to ease any fears and wrap up the game in the second minute of injury time with an excellent strike into the top corner.

Full time 2-0

Mascot for the day was under 10's player Ruby Haigh, and she is pictured before the game with Alex Hindwood.

Town's manager Ashley Vickers was presented with his February manager of the month trophy prior to the game by captain Kate Mallin.
