SEASON 2017/18
League 12th November 2017
Wolves 3-5 Huddersfield Town
Emily Heckler x2, Kate Mallin, Danielle Whitham, Brittany Sanderson
Wolves started the game brightly but, with only 6 minutes gone and with Town’s first chance Emily Heckler put Town one up with a nice finish.
2 minutes later and Sarah Danby shot just wide of the Wolves post
At the other end Wolves struck a shot
just over the bar, and the shot from distance nearly caught Charlie Kenyon off guard but some great defending kept the score at 0-1.
In the 13th minute Town counter attacked, Kate Mallin’s shot was parried and Heckler was on hand to finish, 0-2.
Towns 2 goal advantage lasted 11 minutes when Wolves capitalised on a mistake from Town (1-2).
Both teams were becoming very frustrated after many strange decisions from the referee.
In the 36th minute Hecklers shot was parried and this time Mallin was on hand to tap home. There was probably a foul in the box from Town but the ref has decided to let it go much to Wolves frustration.
At the other end a chance for wolves cleared off the line by Danielle Whitham.
Wolves made it 2-3 when they pulled one back from a corner, although this Town were complaining as the striker appeared to handle the ball.
HT - Wolves Women 2 Huddersfield Town Ladies 3
At half time Heckler for the second time in two games had to replace the Injured Kenyon in goal
2 minutes into the half and Hecklers first job is to pick the ball out of the back of the net as she is beaten by a well placed lob, 3-3
In the 52nd minute Town lead again for the fourth time with a great strike from distance by young midfielder Brittany Sanderson, (3-4)
Three minutes and another great strike from distance is scored by Whitham (3-5)
Further chances fell to Town but they could not increase their lead. The best chance being from first team debutant Lucy Sowerby striking a tremendous left foot shot in the final minute which was acrobatically tipped over the bar by the Wolves keeper
An entertaining game of football which leaves Town in 3rd position in the league.
Full time 3-5
Next Sunday the first team travel to last season's league champions Blackburn Rovers, 2pm ko
