Although Town settled down and began controlling the game, Sheffield Utd pulled off some good tackles and had a strong defensive play trying to make sure the game didn’t run away from them. But in the 14th minute Cleverley broke free and found (P.O.M.) Holly Wilkinson in open space who struck home the second for Town into the bottom corner. 0-2

Both teams were playing well with each getting opportunities on goal. Ellie Adams came close with a long-range strike hitting the oppositions post. It wasn’t until just before the half-time whistle that Sheffield Utd took their opportunity from inside our goal area. With players and the goalie on the floor the ball somehow found its way into the back of the net giving the home side their first goal. 1-2

With the second half barely under way, Esmay Clarke pulled back drawing the Sheffield Utd players to her allowing Harriet Oldfield to run clear up field. Clarke then played a cross to find Oldfield who controlled the ball for a strike on goal. 1-3

28 mins in and it was Town again with Imogen Ward up front getting a cross to Cleverley allowing her to strike home her second into the back of the net. 1-4

There were a number of missed opportunities, from a number of Town players that either went wide, hit the woodwork or were saved by their goalie.

It wasn’t until the 40th minute when Town took advantage of a corner. Oldfield stepped up and fired it straight at the goal keeper, who didn’t get control of it and the ball went falling over the goal line. 1-5
