Our u11s quarter final cup match was away against Worksop. With nothing to separate the 2 teams in previous games this match was always going to close and both teams produced a fantastic game of football. There wasn't much between the 2 sides in the 1st half but it was town who took the lead as Jude Mellors shot looped over the keeper's head. Half time 1-0.

In the 2nd half Worksop dominated possession for large parts but town were very resilient in defence. With 10 minutes to go however worksop found a controversial equaliser as towns goalkeeper had 2 hands on the ball as a worksop player kicked the ball into the net but the referee said the goal stood. In the last 2 minutes town pressed for a winner and had 2 corners in succession and were unlucky not to score. Full time 1-1.

Into extra time, both teams were outstanding throughout the game and neither team looked like they were tiring, it was certainly looking like this game would be decided by a penalty shootout however with 25 seconds remaining Worksop had 1 last attack, they managed to find a cross from there left hand side which reached their player in the box who had a simple tap in. Worksop won the game 2-1.

Player of the match went to Ruby Haigh after a outstanding performance from start to finish both in and out of possession.

Overall not the result the girls wanted but they should be very proud of there efforts. Next up for the girls is a league match at home against Wickersley.
