TOWN WOMEN U12'S 2 - SHEFFIELD UNITED COMMUNITY REDS 0

This fixture is usually of a high standard and today the girls from both teams certainly didn't disappoint in what was a brilliant advert for women's football.

Town had plenty of the ball in the 1st half but any sort of attack was stopped by a very good Sheffield defence and goalkeeper. Sheffield did manage to get into the game and caused town a few problems but towns defence was just as strong with our goalkeeper Mia Jovic and defenders Ruby Haigh and Imogen Butterworth looking very strong and showed great composure in possession. As both teams continued to battle neither team could break the deadlock and the half came to an end 0-0.

In the 2nd half Sheffield started the better and really tried pushing for a goal but towns whole squad were very resilient in the defensive work and they weathered the storm well. With 15 mins to go town made there final changes and this proved to be the difference. With 10 minutes to go the ball fell to Evie Franks who showed great skill and calmly slotted the ball past the Sheffield goalkeeper. Sheffield now had to really go for it but this left space at the back and Evie managed to get her 2nd and double towns lead with a great finish from just inside the area. Player of the match went to Mia Jovic who made some fantastic saves and communicated very well with her team.

Overall a fantastic game of football with both teams showing high quality. Our u12's have now made it 6 wins from 6 in the league. Next Saturday we have a break from the league as we are back at the Stafflex playing Adwick in the 2nd round of the league cup, 10.30am kick off.
