SEASON 2017/18

u12 League
10th February 2017
                                     Crosspool u12's 2 - 3 Huddersfield Town u12's

The under 12s came away from Saturdays game with 3 points despite an uninspiring performance at Crosspool.

Although the conditions were poor, it was the same for both sides but it was clear to see that the opposition were more fired up with Town dangling legs in the tackle and not getting out of first gear for the first 50 minutes of the game.

Crosspool took the lead after 5 minutes when Towns defence were caught napping after giving the ball away to easily in the middle of the park. The opposition broke and crossed well from the left where the oncoming striker cooly volleyed home.

Things got worse for Town and they found themselves 2-0 down after 23 minutes. The Crosspool midfielder danced past 4 weak half-baked challenges before slotting the ball into the bottom corner.

Town created their first clear cut chance of the game on 27 minutes and pulled one back. Scarlett Shorts inch perfect pass picked out Jess Radley on the right side of the box for the wing back to strike powerfully past the keeper.

HT 2-1

Not much changed in the way of effort, workrate and quality for the next 20 minutes but Town were at least starting to control the game as Crosspool went backs to the wall to defend their lead.

After some scrappy build up on 45 minutes Maddie Hall gathered the ball and struck low past the keeper to level the scores.

Molly Firth went close and Daisy Turner spurned 2 free kicks before finding the winner 5 minutes from time. The defensive midfielder picking up the ball in space and unleashing a rocket into the bottom corner from 15 yards.

Town held on for the victory but a lot more is needed in the coming weeks.
