MATCH REPORTS

SEASON 2017/18

u12 League
7th April 2017
                       Sheffield Wednesday u12's 1 - 3 Huddersfield Town u12's

The under 12s came away with an impressive 3 points after beating 2nd placed Sheffield Wednesday away from home.

Wednesday only had 7 players available so Town honorably requested the game to be played 7 vs 7.

Both teams went for it from the off but it was Town who struck first when Firth was released down the left, she cut inside, drew the keeper out and curled the ball into the far corner to give Town the lead.

That lead only last 5 minutes as sloppy defending from Town saw the ball land at the feet of the Wednesday winger to shoot straight at the unlucky Redfern in goals who unfortunately got her feet mixed up as the ball crept in.

Both teams continued to press with Firth and Hall creating space on the flanks at every Town attack.

Man of the match Hall put Town ahead when good pressure on the Wednesday back line saw her steal the ball and fantastically curl the ball left footed into the far corner of the net.

Town went 3-1 up when the ball was switched fluently from Firth on the left to Hall on the right, back inside to Turner who spread the ball back to the left for Firth to finish on the second attempt.

HT: 1-3

Wednesday came at Town in the second half but Town stayed strong throughout, preventing the opposition from creating a single clearcut chance all half.

Towns counter attack was lively and Hall, Taylor-Williams and Rejiba were all denied by saves from the impressive opposition keeper.

Town held on for their 2nd victory against Wednesday this season as they now prepare for the Shield final in a weeks time against Rovers Foundation.
