SEASON 2017/18

u12 League
3rd February 2018
                          Huddersfield Town u12's 1 - 3 Sheffield United u12's

Playing for the second time in a week after losing out in the league cup, Town under 12's were looking for a better result against a strong Sheffield United team.

The game started at a frantic pace, with Sheffield United taking the lead in the 2nd minute, closely followed by an equaliser from Hannah Burgess before 5 minutes had elapsed.

The next few minutes was end to end but with neither side being able to find the killer ball to get behind the opposition defence.

In the 15th minute Burgess had a good shot which went just wide of the United goal and then at the other end, United headed just wide of Town's goal.

AS the half drew to a close United broke away and Grace Redfern in Town's goal was unfortunate to see the shot slip beyond her.

Half time 1-2

Redfern was called into action again early in the second half as she parried a shot low to her right beyond the post but, 2 minutes later she was beaten by United's star striker who broke through the defence to make the score 3-1.

Town continued to battle and player of the match Molly Firth was the main thorn in United's side, making countless runs down the left mixed in with some excellent tackling back to help out her defence.

As the game neared the end the pressure built on the United goal with first Daisy Turner striking a free kick which was headed just wide by the defence and then Firth who had a well struck shot saved.

A much better performance from Town but, up against a team who defend well in numbers and have a lightening quick striker who wins them most games.
