The Under 12's went down 2-1 at Barnsley despite a fantastic performance in a game that could've gone either way.

 

Heading up the slop in the first half Town stayed strong however Barnsley crept ahead on the 14th minute when a bobbling through ball was met first by the Barnsley striker to place home from 8 yards.

 

MOM Maddie Hall was impressive throughout and linked up well with Ella Rejiba and Scarlett Short to show some fantastic pass and move football.

 

Redfern saved well twice from distance before Rejiba hit a long range effort just wide.

Town introduced top scorer Hannah Burgess and winger Molly Firth in the second half and they were both in the action straight away. Firth took on 2 players down the right and pulled back for Burgess whose shot went inches over the bar.

 

Town were level soon after when an indirect freekick following a back pass was converted in style. Firths tee up for Hall was met by a thunderous Volley from 10 yards to level the scores.

 

Town continued to press and Daisy Turner nearly gave them the lead following silky build up play from Hall and Firth and couldn't have got any closer to snatching the points with 5 minutes remaining. A goal mouth scramble saw Shorts effort hit the post and roll across the line for the keeper to gather.

 

The winner came with 3 minutes remaining when good wing play from Barnsley saw them take all 3 points. A low cross into the box had seemed to be dealt with but the Barnsley striker emerged with the ball and took 2 touches before firing high into the roof of the net.

 

A great game from both sides and a lot better from the week before. There were certainly more positives to work with however the girls now have a weeks rest before travelling away to Worksop in 2 weeks time.
