SEASON 2017/18

u12 League
11th November 2017
                           Huddersfield Town u12's 2-1 Sheffield Wednesday u12's

The under 12s went joint top of the league on Saturday with a fine 2-1 victory over previously unbeaten Sheffield Wednesday.

Wednesday could have pulled 6 points ahead of Town with a victory for the owls but instead the young Terriers condemned the opposition to their first defeat of the season.

The Owls came out all guns blazing but strong defending from Morgan and Fawcett saw Town keep their opponents at bay.

Refern was on top form in the Town goal and was positioned well to keep out a couple of long range efforts early on.

Town found it hard to break down a huge Wednesday back line and chances were few and far between.

Wednesday got the opening on the 23rd minute when a rare defensive lapse from Radley saw her marker pull free to fire home from the edge of the box.

Town withstood a barage of pressure and defending fantastically until half time.

HT 0-1

A change of formation saw Town get more ball out wide as they took the game to the Owls.

Molly firth should have equalised when Rejiba's cross found her unmarked at the back post but a turn to many saw her shot well blocked by the Wednesday centre half.

MOM Taylor-Williams took the game by the scruff of the neck and only more good defending from the opposition preventing her from an equaliser.

However with 17 minutes to go, Burgess put Town level. Firth and Rejiba combined well to release the striker in behind the defence and her long range effort was to hot for the keeper to handle.

10 minutes later the well deserved winning goal was scored by the Town Skipper. Good work from Hall and Burgess saw the ball played to the edge of the box where Taylor-Williams struck a first time thunderbolt into the bottom corner of the far post.

Town defended like their lives depended on it, clearing everything that came their way and held on for their first ever win against Wednesday in the league.
