There was a great advert for the womens game on Saturday as SAFG and the Under 13s went toe to toe in a nail-biting encounter in Barnsley.

 

The game ended even with both teams playing attractive football, commiting full blooded challenges and playing the game in the right spirit.

 

Both teams were fantastic throughout and tge match could've gone either way but some great goalkeeping from both sides kept the scoring low.

 

Towns goal came worthy of a potential goal of the season contender. SAFG broke down the wing but Molly Firth covered well to strongly win the ball back and lay off to MOM Wainwright. The "Tank" switched play to right right for Ramsden and Radley to combine in a swift 1-2 and release Gindra down the flank. The striker took on 2 players before crossing for Burgess to volley home from 8 yards. A perfect team goal for the Terriers.

 

Both defences were strong throughout but SAFG equalised when the pacey number 10 got on the end of a deflected throughball to hit low under the advancing Redfern.

 

HT: 1-1

 

The second half was just as frantic as both teams crashed shots against the bar and the keepers stayed focussed to deal with anything thrown their way.

 

Town could have snatched all 3 points at the death when Gindra broke the back line and rounded the keeper but got her feet tangled up to miss the target. It was a difficult chance to take against a keeper who was outstanding in the SAFG goals.
