Huddersfield Town u13's 1 - SAFG u13's 0
The under 13s clinched the league title on the final day of the season with a dramatic 1-0 win over SAFG United.
Only a win against the side who sat a point above Town would have been enough to secure top spot but the young Terriers performed fantastically to take the 3 points.
Town started brightly and Daisy Turner nearly volleyed home the opening goal from a Ramsden corner but the ball flew just wide.
Molly Firth combined well down the right with Radley but the resulting cross was to far in front of Rejiba to get a shot away.
SAFG were reduced to long range efforts with the defence standing tall but the first half ended with minimal clear chances for either side.
HT: 0-0
Town tried to break down the dogged opposition for the first 15 minutes of the second half and very nearly found the breakthrough when a goal mouth scramble saw the ball fall to Alise Gindra whose effort crashed back off the post and out to safety.
However 5 minutes later the decisive goal came. Hannah Burgess was put through brilliantly down the right hand side and the cross was driven in hard and low looking for Firth at the far post. The cross was cut out by the SAFG centre half but the ball fell kindly to Gindra to poke home from 8 yards.
Town continued to press with Gindra furing just wide with 10 minutes remaining before a barrage of free kicks and corners had to be defended by Town in the final minutes.
However Town stood strong and held on for their first league title as a group with emotional scenes at the end between players, coaches and spectators.
