The under 13s beat top of the league Wickersley at home in a fantastic show of character at the Stafflex.

 

Town had previously lost 5-0 in the reverse fixture earlier in the season but it was a much different game this time round.

 

Town looked up for the challenge right from the first whistle and were ahead on 13 minutes when Hannah Burgess was put through one on one with the keeper with the striker calmly slotting the ball into the near corner.

 

On the 20th minute the Terriers made it 2-0 after a fantastic corner from Ramsden caused chaos in the box and Alise Gindra reacted quickest in the resulting goal mouth scramble to extend the lead.

 

Goal of the day came 5 minutes later when a 6 player passing move saw Firth squeeze in behind the defence and although her initial shot was blocked, the rebound fell nicely for her to poke home from 6 yards.

 

HT: 3-0

 

Wickersley came back fighting and snatched a rather fortunate goal back when the wingers cross evaded everyone and looped over Redfern in the Town goal.

 

The response from Town was amazing as 30 seconds later they reclaimed their 3 goal lead. Ramsden, Radley, Burgess all combining to feed Gindra who smashed the ball right footed past the hapless keeper.

 

Wickersley found Redfern at her best when the young stopper saved brilliantly from close range and then again with a 1 on 1, before Rejiba was unlucky not to give Town a further lead with 2 late chances.

 

However Town held their nerve and came away with a well deserved 3 points.
