                                Wickersley Youth 2 -  Huddersfield Town u13's 1

The Under 13’s couldn’t follow up last weekends impressive victory over Wickersley with another win in the away fixture, however their performance certainly warented the 3 points.

Town outplayed their opponents for much of the game but the ball would just not go over the line for them during the vital moments. However Molly Firth put Town 1-0 up after 13 minutes when she crashed a 20 yard effort into the top corner.

Town pressed for the 2nd but their opponents equalised when a long throw into the box fell kindly to the Wickersley striker to scuff a close effort past Redfern.

Gindra went close with a volley and Wainwright failed to connect with a Ramsden corner when unmarked at the back post as the first half came to a close.

HT: 1-1

Town came out with the same tempo and nearly went ahead through an own goal when the Wickersley defenders header drifted an inch wide of the post.

Burgess had 3 chances to take the lead but found the keeper in fine form before Firth missed from close range at a tight angel.

However it was Wickersley who won the game against the run of play. A harsh rebound again fell nicely to the winger whose shot seemed to go in slow motion after it deceived Redfern, hit the post and trickled across the line.

Town couldn’t get back into it with only 7 minutes remaining and it was the Rotherham based side who took the 3 points.
