The under 9's had their first taste of competitive football on Saturday when they kicked off the first of three group games in the Sheffield & Hallamshire Girls League Cup.

Town took the lead in the opening minute when Harriet Oldfield latched on to a nice pass from Holly Wilkinson to finish well.

A minute later and it was the terrier like Wilkinson who made it 2-0 with a shot in off the post and, it was 3-0 in the third minute as Oldfield saw her strong shot beat the Kiveton keeper.

As changes were made there were a few minutes of calm before Charlotte Caselton had a good shot well saved and Isabelle Cleverly shot just wide of the target. Then Jayda Jobarteh and Imogen Ward both had strong shots blocked.

In the 15th minute, Town got their fourth goal of the game when Tove Clayton struck from just inside the box.

In the meantime, at the other end of the pitch Madison Hamilton pulled off a fine save to deny Kiveton.  Then, Jobarteh made it 5-0 before Kiveton Park pulled one back to make it 5-1.

Town scored three further goals before half time when a quick fire double from Cleverly made it 7-1 before Wilkinson added another.

Kiveton Park continued to fight and they also got another goal to make the half time score 8-2.

With Town reducing their player numbers in the second half and Kiveton increasing theirs, the game became 6 vs 4 however, that didn't stop Town adding to their tally at regular intervals with goals from Oldfield (2), Hamilton, Wilkinson and, a cracker from Alysia Singh.

Kiveton Park did not give up the fight and in fact, scored 3 goals in the last 7 minutes of the match to make the final score 13-5, in a game played in excellent spirit by both teams.
