SEASON 2017/18

u14 League
2nd December 2017
                           Sheffield Utd (Reds) 0 -  Huddersfield Town u14's 4

The under 14s bounced back from last weeks first defeat of the season with an excellent win over Sheffield United Reds. They were determined from the off and attacked the Sheffield defence straight away. In the second minute they took the lead when Bella Kington battled for the ball in the Sheffield penalty area, won the ball and her shot hit the post. The ball fell to the feet of Laura Hulme who made no mistake from five yards out. Five minutes later a corner was not cleared by the Sheffield defence and Laura was on hand again to send a powerful left foot shot high into the net from twelve yards. In the tenth minute the score became 3 - 0 when Gaby Pearson scored directly from a corner. The under 14s continued press forward and Scarlett Taylor had a shot which just went wide. Town continued to dominate the game but the home side came more into the game. However, the under 14s defence was in no mood to concede a goal. Keira Millward in goal was confident and the back four of Lucy Grice, Erin Kay, Leah Pearman and Amy Almond gave a solid performance. Half time came with the score still at 3 - 0.

In the second half the under 14s pressed forward. Bella had a shot which went just wide before Laura completed her hat-trick when she found space in the penalty area and fired home from ten yards out. Bella had another shot which just went over the bar and Tamara Wilcock, put through by Laura, had her shot well saved. In the final minute Keira was called on to make a save when she went down to block a shot to keep the final score 4 - 0 for the under 14s.

This was another good all round team performance and sets up next weeks match against joint league leaders Pogmore.

Player of the Match was Laura Hulme for her skilful display and well taken hat-trick.
