10th February 2018
                                       Barnsley u14's 0 -  Huddersfield Town u14's 2

Huddersfield Town Ladies under 14's went three points clear at the top of division 1 after a fairly scrappy win away at Barnsley under 14's.

On a cold a blustery morning, Town ladies dominated for most of the first half, creating a number of good chances but, not able to find the finish to put the ball into the Barnsley net.

In the 5th minute, Mia Harris broke through but saw her shot come back off the Barnsley post.

A few minutes later and Jada Simon shot just wide.  Her next opportunity was a much better strike which the excellent Barnsley keeper managed to palm onto the post, only for the ball to roll along the goal line before being cleared.

There then followed further efforts from Isobella Kington, Tamara Wilcock and Harris but Town couldn't find the breakthrough.

Half time 0-0

2 minutes into the second half and Millie Rumney was the next to test the Barnsley keeper who was equal to it.

At the other end Alex McKie was called into action, making a good diving save low to her right.

With 14 minutes of the half Rumney played in Wilcock who scored Town's opener with a good shot across the keeper and into the bottom corner of the net, 0-1.

Further efforts came from Lucy Grice and Harris but, it took until five minutes from full time for the goal of the game.

Scarlett Taylor collected the ball inside her own half and then went on a mazey run, beating 3 players before placing the ball calmly into the net, 0-2.

Not the best performance but, another win to open up a gap at the top.

Player of the match was Lucy Grice for some excellent defending coupled with some good strong wing back play.
