Huddersfield Town u14's 6 - 1 Sheffield Wednesday u14's
The under 14's took another step towards their first league title with an excellent 6-1 home win over last season's champions Sheffield Wednesday.
Millie Rumney opened the scoring for Town in the 10th minute when she slotted home a loose ball following a corner, 1-0.
A couple of minutes later and Isobella Kington was only denied by an excellent save from the Wednesday keeper.
In the 20th minute, Town doubled their lead when a shot from Alex McKie was parried and finished by Laura Hulme, 2-0.
Wednesday got a goal back 5 minutes later when the Wednesday striker was taken down in the box. They made no mistake from the spot, giving Keira Millward no chance.
Five minutes before half time, McKie extended Town's lead again with a cross/shot which found the top corner of the Wednesday net.
Half time 3-1
Town started the second half strongly and a Tamara Wilcock solo run and finish made it 4-1 five minutes in.
Just a few minutes later and Wilcock got her second, this time with a half volley into the top corner, 5-1.
Kington then made it 6-1 two minutes later and only 12 minutes into the half 6-1.
Wednesday came back into the game and put some pressure on the Town back line with a couple of efforts going just wide of the Town goal.
In the dyeing minutes of the game, Ruby Mills fired powerfully over the Wednesday crossbar from close range.
An excellent performance from Town who must now wait until April 28th to play their final game of the season against third placed AFC Pogmoor.
