u15 League
20th October 2018
Worksop Town 2 - 1 Huddersfield Town u15's
The under 15s lost for the first time this season to Worksop Town and in doing so lost their 100% winning record. The Worksop team started the game in a very positive manner and pressed forward. In the sixth minute Kiera Millward was called upon to make a smart save when she tipped a shot over the bar. Worksop took the lead in the twenty third minute when they pressed and took the ball from the Town defence, scoring with a shot into the corner of the net. After this the under 15s improved their game and just before half time Lois Mattock passed to Laura Hulme who had a shot well saved by the home goalkeeper. At half time the score remained 1 -0 to Worksop.
In the second half the under 15s showed a greater desire and willingness to compete with the home side. However, they could not break down the strong Worksop defence. Worksop made it 2 - 0 in the 51st minute when they were awarded a free kick just outside the area. Their forward struck a fierce shot which Kiera had no chance of saving. The under 15s continued to push forward and were rewarded on 60 minutes when Bella Kington ran through the defence and passed to Lois who shot home at the far post. Town continued to press until the final whistle but were unable to find the equaliser they deserved.
Player of the Match was Ruby Mills for her performance at left back with strong challenges and good positional play.
This was disappointing for the under 15s but the result shows that this season the league will be much stronger and more competitive than last season.
