                                    Barnsley Blue 2 -  Huddersfield Town u15's 2 (3-2 AET)

On Saturday the under 15s narrowly lost in the league cup at the semi final stage when they were beaten 3 -2 by Barnsley Ladies Blue. The game ended in controversy when Barnsley were awarded a goal with two minutes remaining of extra time. After a goalmouth scramble the ball appeared to be kicked out of Keira Millward, the Town keeper's grasp and over the line. Keira had to leave the field with an injury which was later diagnosed as an arm fracture. In the remaining minutes the under 15s pushed forward and a Gabby Pearson free kick went narrowly wide. But time ran out for any comeback and Barnsley went through to the final where they will play Worksop Town.

The game had started with both teams failing to create any clear chances. On 16 minutes a Bella Kington shot was just over the bar and on the 34th minute Mia Harris' header went just wide. Then in the 39th minute Barnsley took the lead when a lobbed shot beat Keira. The score remained 1- 0 to Barnsley at half time.

The under 15s came out strongly in the second half and three minutes in Maddy Rodd dispossessed the Barnsley defender and fed Laura Hulme. Her early cross found Bella who converted from 12 yards to make the score 1 - 1. On 55 minutes Laura found space and had a shot which went just wide and into the side netting. Town extended their lead in the 65th minute when Alex McKie was set free and her cross evaded the Barnsley keeper to put Town 2 -1 up. Six minutes later, with the under 15s trying to play out from the back, Barnsley closed them down and broke to make the score 2 - 2. The score remained the same until full time and extra time prevailed. Penalty kicks looked to be the outcome until the incident in the final minutes.

Jada Simon was player of the match for her strong and determined work in defence, where she broke up many of the Barnsley attacks.
