The under 16s kicked of their season with a fine 2-0 victory at Barnsley.

 

The game was a tight affair with both teams starting well with Town just shading the first half and coming close when Isobella Kington fired narrowly wide after a splendid build up down the left hand side.  Meanwhile the Town defence adjusted well to the long balls played over the top by the hosts.

 

In the second half Town took control with two one-on-ones (43 and 65 minutes) finished decisively by player of the match Kington.  The home team were restricted to long range shots and rarely troubled keeper Keira Millward.

 

A good, battling performance from everyone saw Town deservedly take the points. A special mention for Millie Rumney for a composed performance at right back and the excellent Alyssa Valenti at left back on her debut.
