                                  Huddersfield Town u16's 5 - 2 Barnsley u16's

Huddersfield Town Ladies U16’s came through a gruelling home game against Barnsley to win 5 - 2 and progress through to the Semi-Finals of the League Cup. Brodie Haigh almost got things going on 7 minutes when a well struck shot went just wide of the post. Town were allowing themselves to get bogged down and needed some inspiration to get off of the mark. Up stepped Olivia Burgin who cut in from the wing and belted the ball past the keeper...1 - 0 Town.

Town we’re still struggling to get to grips with the game and conceded a goal when Barnsley were able to close down a goal kick and fire past Emily Brookes....1 - 1. The game had plenty of possession from Town but Barnsley were defending well.

Gwen Hughes came close when the ball flew over the crossbar, Courtney Livsey shot on 29 minutes went wide and Molly Ellis almost broke through to shoot had it not been for a great save from the keeper. The game was petering out and it took till just before half-time before Macy Ellis’s run in from the right enabled her to chip an oncoming keeper...2 - 1 Town.

Half time 2 - 1 Town

Second half and the game continued as it ended the first half with lots of possession but no goals. Barnsley made some great runs down the wing but both Abi Crabtree and Frances’s Keddie were able to deal with it.

On 44 minutes Town got the break they wanted when Molly sent a great ball over the top of the keeper to make it 3 - 1 Town. Zoe Laughton almost made it four when she fired in from the left, however the keeper did well to stop the ball. Barnsley again scored on 50 minutes when they again took advantage from applying pressure to fire the ball past Emily. Town we’re quick to respond with a great shot from Jemima Wood that went narrowly wide, only to be picked up by Harriet Waller who took it through the middle and shoot past the keeper...4 - 2 Town.

Town continued to battle and almost got goal number five when Courtney found herself in front of the goal, however the shot went over. Towns fifth did come when another left foot shot from Macy went flying past the keeper. Town did have one more chance before full time when Emily Uttley carried the ball into the box and shot but sadly, the in form keeper was able to deal with it.

Final score 5 - 2 Town. Star player was Macy Ellis whose left foot shots helped win the game.
