Huddersfield Town u16's 6 - 2 Sheffield Utd u16's
Huddersfield town ladies U16's made it 14 wins out of 14 following a great game against Sheffield United.
Town were quick to get off of the mark when Zoe Laughton ran the wing and passed to Harriet Waller who slid the ball on to Courtney Livsey, sadly the ball hit the post and went wide. Courtney had another chance three minutes later when she controlled the ball turned and fired over the crossbar.
Sheffield United were battling hard and making things very difficult for Town, and on 20 minutes following a great run by the United forward Emily Brookes had to make a double save. Sadly on the rebound the United forward slotted it past Emily...0-1 United.
Town were not going to be beat and responded very quickly. Two minutes after conceding, Molly Ellis took the ball down the wing again and had a shot at the keeper, which despite saving was spilt for Harriet Waller to slot home...1-1.
Shortly afterwards Courtney made it 2-1 when she weaved through the United defence to fire into the top left corner.
Town continued to press and had a number of chances to get another goal, however it took until the 34th minute until Zoe took the ball on the left wing and crossed to Alicia Marriott who put the ball into the the back of the net...3-1 Town.
Half time 3-1
The Second-half got underway and United got straight off the mark with a well crossed ball from a corner that went in off of the Town players to make it 3-2.
Town pushed hard to get another goal and Brodie Haigh came close when she ran into the box and fired straight at the keeper who did well to save. Towns fourth goal came when Emily Uttley took control of the ball passed it nicely to Alicia who pushed it on to Courtney to have the ball saved, however the keeper dropped the ball and allowed Courtney to finish it off 4-2 Town.
The chances continued to come for Town including Jess Barrows chip over to Alicia who went wide on a shot and another Jess chance when she ran through and fired at the keeper who saved well.
On 68 minutes Jess had another chance when again she ran into the box and fired at the keeper who palmed the ball away straight to Harriet who shot it past the keeper... 5-1 Town.
Towns sixth came from another great run down the wing from Molly who cut in to fire past the keeper.
Town were getting their own way and dominating play however on 72 minutes and against the run of the game, Sheffield United counter-attacked and almost scored when their number 10 ran through the defence and fired towards goal, however Emily was quick to react to prevent the goal.
Towns chances continued to come but they were unable to get another goal and the game finished 6-2 Town.
Player of the match was Gwen Hughes for dominating Midfield and breaking up much of United's play. As usual this was well-balanced and even competition where Town took the chances and United didn’t.
