                        Huddersfield Town u16's 5 - 0 Sheffield Utd u16's

Huddersfield Town Ladies U16's maintained their unbeaten record with a very good 5 - 0 win over a determined Sheffield United in the League Cup. Town were slow to get going and made the first half harder than it needed to be, that coupled with some very good attacking play from Utd gave the supporters some worrying times. Fortunately the Town defence were dogged and did not allow the opposition to break through. Town did get some opportunities, On 14 minutes Macy Ellis burst through into the box and fired just wide. Eight minutes later and Jess Barrow had a similar chance but was matched by the impressive keeper. Town were building momentum and Macy almost scored again after being passed from Frances Keddie and running the wing, sadly the ball went wide. The remainder of the half was fought largely in the midfield, however what further chance Town had was well saved by the Utd keeper.

Half time 0 - 0

Second half the Town players were more clinical in their passing and it didn't take long before Courtney Livsey picked the ball up in the centre of the park and fired past the keeper. Town continued to press and on 53 minutes Macy made it 2 - 0 when she received the ball, shifted left and fired with her left foot over the keeper. Harriet Waller almost made it 3 -0 when she was met with an open goal, however unlike her normal play the ball was scuffed and hit the post. Sheffield Utd were starting to fight back and some great interceptions from Olivia Burgin and Abi Crabtree saved Town blushes. Town needed to regain control and did so with a fantastic run through the defence by Macy to again hit the back of the net...3 - 0 Town. Jess was dominating play in centre midfield and was able to present a number of opportunities to fire at the goal. It wasn't until the 76th minute that she was rewarded after she shuffled the ball between her feet and hit an excellent shot past the keeper...4 - 0 Town.

Sheffield Utd had almost given up but was to receive one last blow when their keeper found herself injured and was unable to prevent a Utd own goal...5 - 0 Town.

Town had a few cobwebs to blow off and did so against a very good Sheffield Utd. Star player was Harriet Waller who helped create many of the chances in the game.
