Huddersfield Town Ladies U16 completed what was a memorable double by winning the Cup in a dramatic final.

First half and Town was easily matched in all areas with some great football and end to end action. Towns defenders were having to play at their best to prevent Dronfield taking the lead and the forwards were struggling to break past the opposition defence as they were playing a sweeper who was able to mop everything up. Just before half time Jess Barrow headed in a corner but the ball was deemed to have travelled out of play. For the neutral this was a great final.

Half time 0 - 0

Second half and Town were given the brief to play at their maximum for first five minutes and they did. In the 48th minute a great ball over to Molly Ellis was crossed and met by Alicia Marriott who knocked it past the keeper. ...1 - 0 Town. Two minutes later and Molly made it 2 - 0 when she found herself 1 on 1 with the keeper and slotted it past her. On 55 minutes Dronfield conceded an own goal from a corner that Macy was on target to score..3 - 0 Town.

Dronfield were not going to give up and showed a lot of character to try and fight back. After a wave of great interceptions from Abigail Crabtree and Olivia Burgin they finally broke through on 64 minutes and forced Emily Brookes into making a save. Town turned things up a little more and regained control. Macy got her second goal on 75 minutes when she went head on with the keeper to win the ball and fire it home.

Final score 5 - 0 Town after a thrilling Cup Final. Player of the match was awarded to Jess Barrow by the referee for some great linkup play.

A great year for the girls that has seen some amazing football. Winning the double has been amazing achievement that the players and coaching staff should be very proud of.
