Town returned to action after the Christmas break with a stunning performance against last season’s champions.

The excellent Laura Hulme set up Isobella Kington for the opening goal on 25 minutes.

Dominating the first half Town suffered a set back when Wednesday broke quickly to equalise with a clinical finish before the break.

The hosts set about regaining the initiative in the second half and were rewarded with Kington’s second in the 45th minute who calmly slotted home the busy Lois Mattock ‘s through ball.

Seven minutes later Hulme rode several tackles on a run that started on the half way line to coolly finish and put Town firmly in control.

With Town rising to the physo-called challenge from the South Yorkshire side, Town took the game to the visitors.  Wednesday struck the crossbar direct from a free kick while Maddy Rodd did the same with a thunderous strike after a Kay off by Hulme.

In injury time Hulme got on the end of a clever chip from the left by Alex Mckie to complete the scoring.

In a game controlled by the midfield three, Amy Almond picked up player of the match for her influential performance alongside Lucy Grice in central defensive midfield.
