The under 9's playing their first season together, fell at the final hurdle when beaten 4-2 by Doncaster Belles.

Both teams started a little nervously but gradually each teams game improved.

Belles were the first to have a decent effort when they went close with as shot from outside the box.

Town then turned up their game and in the 14th minute, a great passing move which involved 5 of their 7 players eventually ended up at the feet of Isabelle Cleverly who ran in on goal to shoot left footed, 1-0.

In the next minute it was 2-0 as Cleverly again picked up the ball on the left and hit s strong shot from distance which found the net.

However, the Belles responded immediately and a quick attack saw them into the Town box where, after a few ricochets, it eventually found the Town net, 2-1.

The score remained unchanged for the remainder of the half.

Half time 2-1.

Unfortunately, in the second half, things didn't go Town's way and Belles first equalised and then went 3-2 ahead within 9 minutes of the restart.

Town tried to come back but, the Belles defence was simply too well organised to allow them through.

A fourth goal for Belles with 9 minutes remaining killed the game off although there were a couple of exciting moments near the end.

First, Madison Hamilton in Town's goal pulled off a fantastic acrobatic save to tip a goal bound free kick over the bar and then, with 4 minutes remaining, Harriet Oldfield saw her shot rebound off the post. A goal then could have made for a very exciting final few minutes.

The team are pictured with their runners up medals, from left to right, Harriet Oldfield, Jayda Jobarteh, Alysia Singh, Holly Wilkinkinson, Isabelle Cleverly, Madison Hamilton, Tove Clayton and Imogen Ward
